Show up until
the words matter.

Writer Roll Call is a cozy home for your writing practice: projects, drafts, and a ten-second word-count log that turns into honest insights — pace, streaks, and finish lines that feel reachable.

every roll call starts with one name

The whole journey

First draft through final edit — every draft keeps its own history, and revision days that shrink the count still count as showing up.

Writing groups

Small critique circles on a deadline your group sets. Share pages, leave notes in the margins — and shared work clears away each cycle, by design.

Log in ten seconds

Type your manuscript's new total, done. Works with Scrivener, Word, or a fountain pen — and backfill imports your history.

First roll call

Hi, I'm Robert.

I don't write as much as I used to. There was a time when I did: I ran a podcast called Tuesday Night Stories with a friend back in 2010, I have three books under my belt, and I taught high school PreAP English for a few years.

Then I shifted into technology and loved it. I worked my way up the developer path in education, and today I'm a senior developer for a major university. But the writing never really let go of me.

I built Writer Roll Call because I love writing, and I love what data can show you about it. NaNoWriMo first caught my interest. Then watching authors like Brandon Sanderson post live progress bars for their books. I wanted to combine all my interests: writing, teaching, mentoring. That's what I hope this becomes. Not just a wordcount tracker, but a tool that respects 500 words cut as much as 500 words added. A guide from first draft to finished, where you might learn something about how you write along the way.

The habit itself is simple. Write, log your new total, get back to your day. Ten seconds.

There are monthly contests and small writing groups waiting too, with more to come.

We launch next month, in August. Join the list on the home page, and I'll see you at roll call.

Be first through the door

Registration is invite-only while we build. Join the list and you'll get an invite when doors open — plus the occasional update, never more.
